The Jonas Brothers are at their prime and have just released their third studio album, 'A Little Bit Longer.' The title is deprived from one of the songs on the record about Nick's diabetes. When you first turn on the record a cheery, soulful sound blows from the speakers. This would be the song 'BB Good.' It's a nice, hand-clappin' song and a fabulous way to start the record. With its upbeat tune never declining and catchy lines and riffs, it is most deffinately a hit. Next is 'Burnin Up.' This song is their first single off the disc and is pure genious. It keeps the beat going and you can't resist from singing along. With smoking lyrics and Nick and Joe's genious vocals, it was a good choice to give the fans and world a taste of A Little Bit Longer. Following would be 'Shelf.' When you first hear this track, you are brought right back to the good ol' days. The tune makes you feel like you're back in the 60's and bopping along at the townhall. I personally think the lyrics are brilliant and the beat is one of my favorites off of the cd. This song is telling someone, "Listen, this is my heart. Don't just forget about it or I'm going to move right on."
What comes next is a strong song. 'One Man Show' is full of power and angst. You can't help but sing along with the chorus and feel the passion that was put into it. For any person that wanted to be a little independent from their love, this ones for you. The boys slow the record down from it's upbeat tempo with the song 'Lovebug.' This was a big change for the boys and out of their comfort zone but they made it work. The simple guitar at the beginning balances out the calming and loving lyrics about falling in love. With conversation thrown between verses, you feel like you were there with them while writing a song with a bunch of buddies. Sometimes you have to take risks, and the brothers took a good one seeing how this is probably my favorite ditty on the record.
The second half of the cd starts with the song 'Tonight.' This one tells about how something is not going to be settled tonight so we just have to drop it. With a catchy hook at the beginning this was a worthwhile third single. So many girls fell in love with it's catchy-ness, like most of their album. Click next and you'll find 'Can't Have You.' This one slows things down a bit. With some deep lyrics, this song tells about how you really can't love anyone else than the person you love. Also, the depths you go for love. Jonas Brothers deffinately nail it on the head when they write songs about love and hurt. To kick it back up to pace, 'Video Girl' is a sassy, pay back song. Written about Kevin's ex-girlfriend, you can tell things didn't turn out very well. This song just goes to show that if you break their hearts, you get a song about you; not a good one though. Coming up we have 'Pushing Me Away.' This song has insane vocals, lyrics, and guitar. These boys have some crazy songs and you can feel how they felt when they wrote the songs. This one is deffinately a song about "why?"
'Sorry' is the tenth song. This is deffinately a beautiful song. The lyrics at the beginning are incredible and carry that out through the song. This one is deffinately for anyone who has broken someone's heart. Again to pick the tempo up, we have 'Got Me Going Crazy.' This song is a fun song to sing and listen to. The chorus is very catchy and this is just a great song about falling in love and how crazy you can get. Now to finish the record. The very last song is 'A Little Bit Longer.' This song was written entirely by Nick and is about his diabetes, as i mentioned before. It's simple yet so pure and amazing. The piano at the beginning sets a tone of seriousness, but the song elevates as it continues. With a guitar solo near the end, this song is powerful. It doesn't just go for someone battling diabetes or a disease. This is for anyone that feels hurt or pain. This is the boys way of saying, "We may be rockstars and live crazy lives, we still get our hearts broken and feel the pain you feel."
This record was not a junior blow out but a continuation to the boys evolution. They have never left their roots but change their music for the good. All artist do this and these brothers know exactly the direction their going. Even though their big stars, they remember the fans and what they like to hear. And i applaud them for their actions and also, this album. So boys, thanks for giving us some new stuff to play on repeat on our iPods. We do it for you.
